CHRISTMAS IN ASSISI
VIDEO MAPPING AND PROJECTIONS OF GIOTTO’S FRESCOES

ASSISI – Christmas 2020/2023 THE NATIVITY OF LIGHT
Proietta srl illuminated Assisi, the nativity city par excellence, with multimedia installations on the façades of the Upper Basilica of Saint Francis, the Cathedral of San Rufino, the Church of Santa Chiara and Piazza del Municipio. A luminous path featuring Giotto’s stars connected the various sites. Giotto’s frescoes came to life with video mapping, installations, and luminous pathways to celebrate Francis’ Christmas. An extraordinary event widely covered by the media, also broadcasted in Eurovision with Andrea Bocelli’s concert and followed online through the web app ilnataledifrancesco.it. Thousands of people admired the video projections of the Nativity of Jesus, the Annunciation to Mary, the extraordinary frescoes by Giotto inside the Lower Basilica of Saint Francis, and the exclusive video mapping of the interior of the Monumental Complex, which allowed visitors to immerse themselves in over 10,000 square meters of frescoes.
A complex installation that employed 3 video projectors with PROIETTA F32 outdoor housings, 12 Thorok architectural projectors, 40 Proietta Proled 40W units, and more than 90 Archiled fixtures.
The concept was developed by Studio Architetti Mario Cucinella in collaboration with Marco Capasso and implemented by PROIETTA srl for ENEL X.
