Projectors and Video Projectors
The difference between projectors and video projectors is not always immediately clear: they are different technologies, but complementary in professional projection applications.
PROIETTA professional gobo projectors (IMPRESSIVE, THOROK, PALLADIO and DIAMOND) are designed to project high-definition static images using heat-resistant dichroic glass discs. Gobos are engraved and combined in CMYK four-color process (cyan, magenta, yellow, black), with additional colors to achieve precise tones, such as skin tones.
With a brightness ranging from 6,000 to 60,000 lumens, these outdoor projectors ensure sharp images even on large surfaces. Some models allow the sequential projection of multiple gobos and, with the exception of PALLADIO, dynamic effects through rotation.
Thanks to IP65 certification, PROIETTA projectors are resistant to dust and water, making them ideal for outdoor installations without additional protection. They also represent a more cost-effective and efficient solution compared to video projectors for professional projection projects.
Video projectors, or digital projectors, are devices designed to display content from digital sources such as computers or media players. Unlike professional gobo projectors, they do not use images engraved on physical media, but reproduce multimedia content digitally.
Video projectors allow the projection of videos, static images and presentations, also with synchronized audio, making them ideal for conference rooms, corporate environments, schools and home theaters.
Although they are mainly used in indoor environments, PROIETTA climate-controlled enclosures make it possible to use them as outdoor projectors as well. However, compared to gobo projectors, video projectors involve higher costs both in terms of operation and management in professional projection projects.

ntegrating professional gobo projectors and video projectors is the most effective solution to achieve high-impact visual results while optimizing costs. Video projection, for example on building facades, can cost up to six times more than gobo projectors.
An efficient strategy involves using outdoor gobo projectors across most surfaces, reserving video projectors only for key or focal areas. This approach maintains high-quality visual effects while reducing the overall budget.
Gobo projectors are ideal for static images, logos and graphics, while video projectors are better suited for dynamic content, animations and video mapping.
The two technologies can also be used together on the same surface: for example, a gobo projector for a static logo and a video projector for video content, creating versatile and highly engaging projections.
This versatile and integrated approach, tailored to each specific context, not only helps reduce costs, but also enables a more diverse and engaging visual experience, capable of capturing the audience’s attention through a wide range of atmospheres.
Explore the creative possibilities offered by the combination of PROIETTA projectors and video projectors, and take your event to the next level while staying within budget.
